# Create an invoice

> Build an invoice, share the payment link, and receive BRL in your Pix once your buyer pays by bank transfer.

An invoice in Get paid is a request to collect a specific amount from one buyer. You fill in the details, Get paid turns it into a hosted payment link, and you share that link however you like. Your buyer pays by bank transfer; you receive BRL in your Pix key.

<Note>
  You can create and share links in **test mode** before your identity verification clears — but a real payout only happens once you've verified your identity and added a Pix key. See the [Quickstart](/getpaid/quickstart).
</Note>

## Create the invoice

Go to **Invoices** and click **New**, then fill in the form.

### Header

* **Buyer** — name, email, and country. The email is where the payment-link invitation lands, so double-check it.
* **Currency** — the currency your buyer pays in (USD, EUR, or BRL). Get paid quotes the foreign-exchange rate into BRL automatically when your buyer confirms.
* **Amount** — what your buyer pays you, with two-decimal precision.
* **Due date** *(optional)* — the payment link expires automatically if it isn't paid by then.

### Line items

Add as many line items as you like. Each has a description, quantity, unit price, and subtotal. Line items render exactly as you type them on the buyer's payment page — they're there for your buyer's clarity.

### Save and share

Saving keeps the invoice as a draft you can keep editing. When it's ready, send it: Get paid generates a **payment link** you can email, paste into WhatsApp, or share through any channel you already use.

## What your buyer sees

Your buyer opens the link — no account or app to install on their side. They:

1. Confirm the amount and, if their currency isn't BRL, review the locked exchange rate.
2. Follow the on-screen bank-transfer instructions and pay from their own bank.

Once their transfer clears, the funds are converted and paid out to you.

## How you get paid

When your buyer's payment clears, you receive the amount in **BRL via Pix** — into the Pix key registered on your account. There's nothing else to do; the payout follows the payment automatically.

Watch each step from sent to paid out on the invoice itself — see [Tracking payments](/getpaid/tracking).

## Tips

* **Set a due date.** A short due date keeps your receivables clean and makes follow-up automatic.
* **Try it in test mode first.** Invoice your own email in test mode to see exactly what your buyer will see before you send a real one.
* **Get the buyer's email right.** The invitation goes to that address; a wrong email means starting over with a fresh invoice.
